Where Obedience is a Way of Life

Obedience Training

Private Lessons

Private lessons are available either individually or in a package and are open to dogs 16 weeks and older.  Basic obedience, advanced obedience, and behavior problem solving can all be addressed in private lessons.  Lessons are 50 minutes long and focus on your specific goals, using methods tailored to your dog’s personality and learning needs.

When introducing a dog to a new command, it’s best to have as few distractions as possible.  We add controllable distractions (rolling balls, treats on the floor, etc.) as the dog masters the command.  When the dog's ready, we practice around unpredictable distractions.  This sets the dog up for success.

Private lessons are held at Flying Colors HQ, Pampered Pets, or your home.

Residential & Day Training

Overnight camp for your dog.  In this structured setting, your dog will be trained at least four times throughout the day, receive several potty walks per day, and enjoy play time in the evening.  Most dogs respond well to this form of training because our certified trainers have the consistency and knowledge of dog behavior to teach a new concept clearly, with little confusion to the dog.  Once your dog has completed the program, a trainer will work with you during private lessons to teach you how to reinforce the commands your dog has learned.  Results are guaranteed!

We also offer Day Training.  The daily schedule is the same as Residential Training, but your dog goes home every evening.  If you choose to enroll your dog in a Day Training program, you will drop your dog off between 7:30 and 8:30 in the morning and pick him/her up between 5:30 and 6:30.  Training programs run Monday through Friday.

Program 1            on leash

  • Three days of Day Training and one private lesson.  Your dog will learn heel with automatic sit and sit at your side.

Program 2            on leash

  • Five days of Day Training and three private lessons.  Your dog will learn heel with automatic sit, sit at your side, down at your side, and stay.

Program 3            on leash

  • Ten days of Day Training and four private lessons.  Your dog will learn heel with automatic sit, sit and down at your side, sit and down in motion, sit and down from the front, stay, and come.  Your dog will respond to both verbal commands and hand signals.
  • Program includes a properly fitted training collar and a leather leash.

Program 4            off leash upgrade

  • Ten days of Day Training and four private lessons.  This upgrade is available only to dogs who have successfully completed Program 3.  Your dog will perform all of the tasks in Program 3 off leash indoors and outdoors, with distractions.  Your dog will also learn the place mat command.
  • Your trainer may recommend remote collar training as a component of this program.
  • Program includes a training tab, long line, and mat for the place mat command.

Residential Training programs are similar to Day Training, but the dog stays overnight in our facility for the duration of the program.

Residential and Day Training takes place at Flying Colors HQ.
